Day 135

Good afternoon!

Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Ezzah!
Phonics: Today, the students were introduced to "ou" sound, action and song. We brainstormed words with "ou" and "ow" on the board.
Journal :Today, the students wrote three words with ou or ow and wrote two sentences with those words.

Unit of Inquiry:Students reviewed ways to be happy. We discussed ways to be a good friend to someone as that makes everyone happy. We went through different scenarios and brainstormed how to be a good friend in that scenario. For example, if there is a new student in the classroom, how can you be a good friend? Then, we made friendship flowers, where each petal had something nice to say about being a great friend.

Math:The students reviewed the measurement of length (long or short) and completed a page in out math workbook.

Day 134

Good evening!

Kidsports!Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Kareem!
Phonics: Today, the students reviewed the "ou" sound, action and song. The students learned that "ou" and "ow" make the same sound and we made a list of words for each sound. Then, worked on a worksheet identifying pictures and words with that sound

Lunch/ Recess 1 

Unit of Inquiry: The students were introduced to the feeling of Happy by reading a book "Everybody Feels... Happy!" We discussed how happy might feel (bubbly, fizzy, smile really wide) and when we feel happy. Then, we sang the song "If you're Happy and your know it and added happy actions to the song.


Journal:  In our journals, we  wrote about times when we feel happy and drew a picture.

Day 133: Popcorn Day!

Good afternoon!

Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Kareem!
Phonics: Today, the students were introduced to "ou" sound, action and song. We brainstormed "ou" words on the board and made a word out of playdough. 







Journal :Today, the students wrote about when they like to eat popcorn and drew a picture.

Math:The students reviewed the measurement of length (long or short). The students were given the task to sort out the names in our class from shortest to longest. We wrote our names on equal squares, lined them up and found out whose name length are the same, shorter or longer.

Unit of InquiryThe students reviewed the different emotions a person can feel and what it feels and looks like on a person.

Day 131: Ice Cream Day

Good afternoon!

Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Ayen!
Phonics: Today, the students reviewed the "qu" sound, action and song. We brainstormed "qu" words on the board.
Math: The students reviewed the measurement of length (long or short). The students were given 5 links. With a partner, they measured different items around the classroom and recorded if it was longer or shorter than the chain of links.

Spring Fundraiser Assembly and Ice Cream!We made our $8000.00 mark and with this an award to pie a teacher was given! Then, the students ate their ice cream sundaes in the cafeteria.

Unit of Inquiry:Students were introduced to a new unit of Feelings. We brainstormed different emotions a person may feel on chart paper and played a game of charades. Students randomly chose an emotion out of a container and acted out the emotion to their classmates. The classmates guessed what emotion the presented displayed.

Day 130: Pancake Day

Happy Pancake Day!












Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Aarav!
Phonics: Today,  the students reviewed the "qu" sound, action and song. The students brainstormed words with "qu" on the board and completed a worksheet based on this sound.

Journal: The students wrote about what they would like to have on top of their pancakes and drew a detailed picture.

Unit of Inquiry: The students reviewed the signs of Spring and were introduced to what trees look like in the Spring. We learned about blossoms and buds on a tree during the Spring time and made our own Spring Tree



Lunch/ Recess 2 
Math:  The students were reviewed measurement of length (longer or shorter). The students went around the classroom to measure different objects around the room while recording their results in their Math workbook.
