Day 82

Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Alyaan!

Phonics: Today, the students reviewed  the "ai" and "Jj" sound, song and action. Thank you to the students who brought an item for Show and Share.

Unit of Inquiry: Today, the students we reviewed the community helpers, doctor, nurse and paramedic. We reviewed why each are important to the community, the difference between each and how they help each other.  Then, we had centers which included dramatic play to be nurses, doctors, paramedics and patients. 
Lunch/ Recess 2 
IB Learner Profile : The students were introduced to the IB Learner profile, Risk Taker, by reading the book, Be Brave, Little Penguin. We came up with a meaning of Risk Taker, which is to try new things. Then, we discussed how the penguin was a risk taker in the story.

Day 81

Good eveningl!

Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Omar!

Phonics: Today, the students reviewed the sound, song and action of "Jj" and we brainstormed words on the board. Then, we completed a worksheet based on this sound.

Unit of Inquiry: Today, the students were introduced to the community helper, Paramedic (Emergency Medical Technicians), by reading a book. 

We learned why they are important to the community and how they help save lives in an emergency.  We learned about the term emergency and how they may rush people to the hospital.  We also learned about the ambulance and how cars have to make way for an ambulance with a siren. Then, we watched a video of a girl named, Emily Yeung, who visited the paramedics and showed us what its like when you call 911 for medical help. After, we participated in dramatic play and pretended to be doctors, nurses, paramedics and sick patients!


















Lunch/ Recess 2 

Math: The students were reviewed  the meaning of subtraction, which is to take away. We reviewed that the first number tells us how much we need and the second number tells us how many to take away (to cross off). We also learned how to count with our fingers. We completed examples on the board, then did some work to practice subtracting at our desks.

Day 80

Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Marloe!

Phonics: Today, the students were introduced to the "Jj" sound, song and action. The students brainstormed different words with "Jj" and made a word out of playdough. 











Journal: The students wrote two sentences about their visit to the doctors with a detailed picture.

Unit of Inquiry: Today, the students were introduced to the community helper, nurse by reading a book. We learned why they are important to the community and what nurses do during their day. Then, we had centers which included dramatic play to be nurses, doctors and patients. Look at the students pretending to be nurses, doctors and patients. 















Lunch/ Recess 2 

Math: The students were reviewed Subtraction and the meaning of subtraction, which is to take away. We reviewed that the first number tells us how much we need and the second number tells us how many to take away (to cross off). We completed examples on the board, then did some work to practice subtracting with counters at our desks.
